Activity 3 - Digital Storytelling

I have been having difficulty viewing ZooBurst and Prezi on other blogs.  Anyone else having difficulty?

Activity 3 Reflection - Digital Storytelling

I began this assignment using StoryBird.  I was drawn to the warm illustrations that the site offers.  I soon realized that it was difficult to search for illustration which complimented the storylines I had in mind.  I soon found myself trying to build a story around the illustrations. I decided to switch to ZooBurst. I chose to build a story around the acronym “BEST” in which our building uses to support our PBIS program.  I liked how each letter in BEST pops up one at a time creating more emphasis on each letter independently.  I also liked using the character text feature to describe the meaning of each letter.  The text feature offered an interactive piece which creates higher interest and allows me the opportunity to reinforce the meaning of the acronym in various ways.

Activity 2 - Primp My Presentation

Activity 2 - Reflection

Some assignments are easier than others. Prezi was user friendly and easy to navigate when using a template and not deviating from it. Once I tried a presentation from scratch, I was continually looking for options that I could not find . I wanted to embed a video that was not from You Tube, but was unable to figure it out. I need to spend more time in the help section on this site. I feel creating lessons from this site will help increase student interest, therefore, I will remain persistent.

I originally set out to make a Prezi presentation on adjectives using the Wild Thing video in my presentation.  Because the video was not a You Tube video, I did not know how to embed it  into my Prezi presentation.  There was an option to select a video from "My Videos". Does anyone know how to place the video below into "My Videos" so I can place it into a presentation down the line?

Activity 1 - Blog Bling

Figurative Language

This week our class will begin reading Lafacadio by Shel Silverstein.  It leads us into the introduction of different forms of figurative language.  In chapter one we will learn about onomatopoeia. Onomatopoeia is the formation of a word, as meow, honk or bam, by imitation of a sound made by or associated with its referent.

Reflection - Activity 1
Activity 1 was a bit frustrating.  I am still trying to understand how to navigate from one section to another.  The program, itself, is not as intuitive as some of the programs I have worked with.  I feel like there are a lot of hoops to jump through, but do not know which order to begin jumping.  The session on Wednesday was helpful.
